Borussia has given themself a great chance of earning their first Bundesliga title since 2012, but it will likely also put extra pressure on the players. How well can they cope with it? The team has often disappointed this season when they have had a chance to grab a stranglehold of the league with a Bayern slip-up.

Dealing with the situation likely isn’t going to be easy. Losing a title at this stage of the season would be talked about for generations to come and the thought of it could be very hindering for some of the players.

However, based on current form, Saturday’s contest shouldn’t even be close. Dortmund has been scoring goals for fun, dropping only two of the last available 15 points, while Mainz is limping to the finish line with a four-game losing streak. They have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 league outings, picking up a measly two wins over that span.

To shock Dortmund, Mainz definitely has to tidy things up at the back, especially with an in-form Sebastien Haller ready to fire his team to the title. He’s started to make up for lost time after missing the start of the season following cancer treatment, registering an incredible five goals and three assists across the last three league rounds.

History is also on Dortmund’s side Saturday. Only a late Giovanni Reyna strike gave them the victory in this season’s first meeting with Mainz, but the team now boasts an impressive four-game winning streak in the match-up. To end the streak, Mainz has to become only the third team this season in the Bundesliga to take points off Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park. Edin Terzic’s men have won a whopping 11 games straight on home turf, scoring 46 goals in the process.
