Liverpool have struggled defensively all season and that’s the main reason why the team hasn’t been able to perform consistently. However, Jürgen Klopp’s men have been very strong offensively in recent outings, scoring eight times in three games, and that’s helped Liverpool to record their longest winning streak of the season.

Mohamed Salah has been leading the charge with three goals and one assist during the streak. He’s had a lackluster Premier League campaign so far with seven goals but it looks like the Egyptian star has started to turn his season around. Can he also now improve his scoring record against Leicester? Salah netted three goals in his first two appearances against the Foxes but has gone on to add just one more goal in seven matches.

Leicester were on a hot streak of their own prior to the World Cup break, but they restarted the season with a 3-0 home loss against Newcastle, which is another blow for the team during a disappointing campaign. With nearly half of the season gone, the 2016 Premier League champions are sitting just 13th in the table.

Even tougher times could be on the horizon now as well with James Maddison having returned from the World Cup with a knee issue. He was in immense form before the season was paused, producing four goals and three assists over an eight-game stretch. The team clearly missed Maddison against Newcastle and it’s unclear when he can make it back on the pitch.

Maddison’s absence puts more responsibility on Harvey Barnes’ shoulders and the team also badly needs Jamie Vardy to turn back the clock and get back to his best. At 35 years old, it looks like Vardy has finally run out of juice, scoring just once in the league this season. However, he has also started only eight games out of 15. With Maddison out of the picture, Vardy could have a bigger role to play. The match-up against Liverpool has been very kind to him through the years with Vardy scoring 10 goals in 15 meetings.
