Chelsea Looks for First European Win at Home Against Milan

With two games played in the Champions League this season, Chelsea are still win-less and find themselves at the bottom of Group E with one point. The Blues badly need a victory on Wednesday when hosting AC Milan.

10Bet LogoBookmaker 10bet has the odds at 1.80 for both teams to score in the match. The odds are at 3.75 for Chelsea to win with both teams scoring and at 9.50 for Milan to be victorious with both sides netting at least once.

Chelsea opened the European campaign with a shocker in Zagreb, losing 1-0 to a local Dinamo side in what turned out to be Thomas Tuchel’s final game in charge, and the second round of action resulted in a 1-1 draw with Salzburg. Graham Potter made his debut as Chelsea boss in the Salzburg match and he’s only just taken charge of his second game, leading the team to a dramatic 2-1 derby victory against Crystal Palace.

Conor Gallagher popped up with a beautiful late goal against his former side over the weekend and the Blues need a new hero on Wednesday to ignite their European campaign. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be desperate to be the match-winner after starting out his professional career at Milan although he never broke through to the first-team squad.

Having just notched his first Chelsea goal, Aubameyang should be full of confidence heading into action on Wednesday. He has yet to score in two European appearances this season, but Aubameyang has a nice strike rate in the Champions League with 15 goals in 32 games and he shouldn’t stay quiet for long.

Milan will have their own man out for revenge at Stamford Bridge. Olivier Giroud was dumped by the Blues in 2021 right after he helped the team win the Champions League. He’s been in great form for Milan and will look to score for the fifth time in seven club appearances.

The Rossoneri have four points on the board after drawing with Salzburg and beating Dinamo in their last outing 3-1. They have already matched their points tally from last season after having a miserable comeback campaign in the Champions League.

The teams go head to head for only the third time. The first two meetings happened during the 1999-2000 Champions League season and the sides ended up playing out a draw in both matches. It’s a result that would suit the visitors again on Wednesday, while Chelsea would see it as another blow and it would leave them in a tough spot for the latter half of the group stage.
