Davis Cup Finals 2022 | Can the USA Break Their 15 Year Drought in Malaga?

Novak Djokovic winning the 2022 Nitto ATP Finals marked the end of the calendar year for most tennis players. However, a select few will play on this week with another finals series taking place—the 2022 Davis Cup Finals.

Over 135 teams have been whittled down to the best eight over the course of the year, and these eight teams will come together for six days of intense competition this week to decide who will be crowned the 110th champion of the Davis Cup.

Current Odds Date & Time: November 22nd, 6:00 A.M. (EST)

Looking at the overall odds heading into this week’s play, it’s clear that this is a five horse race.

Canada is the slight favourite to win the Davis Cup 2022 with odds of 3.75 this week. Hot on their heels are Croatia, who are just behind on 4.00, before the USA and Spain are both tied on 5.00, and Italy is also in the mix at 5.50. After this, there’s a significant drop off with Australia, Germany and the Netherlands not considered legitimate chances at 13.00-21.00 in William Hill’s odds.

Canada lead in the odds because of the strong team they are fielding. For the first time in over two years, both Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov are playing Davis Cup tennis for their country. Auger-Aliassime has been one of the hottest players on tour in the final quarter of 2022, putting together a winning streak that saw the 21-year-old take down three titles in a row and qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time. While this last week has cooled his tempo a little, the Canadian is still a real threat when combined with other Top 30 regular Denis Shapovalov for Team Canada.

Another excellent bet this week is Team USA. Though they are not the favourites, they are near enough in the odds to present both a sensible and lucrative bet at William Hill.

America lead the all-time Davis Cup winner list with 32 titles across the tournament’s 122 year history. However, their last title was in 2007 with Andy Roddick and the Bryan brothers spearheading the attack. Now, Team USA have developed another strong team with Taylor Fritz, Francis Tiafoe, Tommy Paul and Jack Sock all in good form this year. Fritz is fresh off a run to the Nitto ATP Finals semi-finals, while Tiafoe reached his first Grand Slam semi-final this year. Add this to the doubles prowess of Jack Sock, and the USA are a real chance at 5.00 in the betting odds.

Tune in from Tuesday, November 22nd to see all the Davis Cup action unfold this week.
