France will begin their Nations League title defense on Friday in a potentially tricky fixture against Denmark, who made a lot of noise at last year’s Euros and will look to further prove themselves.
Will Karim Benzema continue his spectacular season on the international stage? Bookmaker 10bet has the odds at 2.40 for the Real Madrid star to bag a goal on Friday. PSG ace Kylian Mbappe is also looking to head into the summer break in style and the odds are at 2.30 for him to score anytime.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: June 2nd, 5:00 P.M. (EST)
Benzema, who finished his campaign in club football with 44 goals and 15 assists in 46 games, has scored in four straight Les Bleus games and he’s had a superb record since returning to the side last year getting nine goals in 13 games. France didn’t miss him much and won the 2018 World Cup without him, but Benzema certainly offers something extra for the side.
Mbappe had an incredible year with 39 goals and 26 assists in 46 games for PSG and his France numbers aren’t far behind either. The 23-year-old has bagged 26 goals and 21 assists in 54 appearances in international football.
Sadly we won’t be seeing a deadly duo of Benzema and Mbappe in Real colors next season, but they are spearheading the attack together for France and the Danish defenders likely won’t be sleeping very well ahead of Friday’s match.
The two nations meet for the 17th time and the results have been pretty even so far – the French have won eight clashes and Denmark boast six wins. The most recent meeting was four years ago when the Danes managed to become the only team France didn’t beat at the 2018 World Cup as the two sides played out a goalless draw in the final group stage game.
Denmark have quietly developed into a top side in international football and defeats have come quite rare for them. There have been just seven losses in 28 games for the side since Kasper Hjulmand took over as manager in 2020.
The Danes don’t really have any world-class stars, but the squad is full of players who ply their trade in the top European leagues and they are working very well together as a unit. France haven’t lost a football match in 90 minutes since November 2020, but Didier Deschamps’ men definitely can’t take their Friday opponent lightly if they want to get a positive result.
