Nice’s struggles have been a big surprise in France as the team was close to a top-four finish last season and the club made a number of ambitious moves in the transfer market. However, gelling seems to be a serious issue for the team at the moment. With a new manager in charge as well in Lucien Favre, it might take quite a bit of time before the Eaglets regain last season’s form.

Aaron Ramsey and Nicolas Pepe are among the new recruits, but it’s clear that Nice need to keep Andy Delort and Amine Gouiri on top of their game to have a chance to challenge for the top spots again.

Delort and Gouiri combined for 26 goals in Ligue 1 last term and the latter was also one of the best set-up men in the league with nine assists. The duo has struck just once this season and Gouiri didn’t even get to see any action over the weekend in a 3-0 loss to Marseille.

Lille head to their third home game of the season with seven points in the bag. The 2021 champions got humiliated by PSG in a 7-1 defeat on Aug. 21, but it’s been a decent start to the campaign and they have a good opportunity to pick up further momentum on Wednesday.

The side from Northern France once again lost multiple key players over the summer and the situation has been far from ideal for new manager Paulo Fonseca, but he still has some great talent at his disposal and Lille will have every chance to improve on last season’s 10th-place finish.

Lille are always going to be dangerous as long as Jonathan Bamba and Jonathan David are around. Both have scored twice this season and David also boasts two assists, meaning that he’s been involved in nearly half of the team’s nine goals. If Nice want to end their poor spell, they definitely need to have some answers for David.
