City have looked unbeatable for most of the season but there have been a few slip ups from Pep Guardiola’s men in the last six weeks or so. Tottenham beat them at Etihad, Sporting Lisbon battled out a 0-0 draw there and City also played out a goalless draw with Crystal Palace a few weeks ago.

With three clean sheets recorded in four games, City are doing just fine defensively but there have been some issues in attack despite the team now boasting three different 10-goal scorers in the league this season after Kevin De Bruyne found the net against Burnley on Saturday.

The Belgian joined Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez with the latter receiving the day off against Burnley allowing him to be fully fresh for Tuesday’s clash. Mahrez has enjoyed a lot of success in the Champions League this season and is City’s top scorer across all competitions with 22 goals. Atleti will see him as the main threat.

Atletico’s defense hasn’t been at its best this season, but they pulled out all the tricks a few weeks ago at Old Trafford and United wasn’t able to even get a sniff in the game. A repeat of the performance would set them up nicely for the return leg against City although stopping a side that has scored over 100 goals in all competitions will be much tougher than shutting down an out-of-sync team that hasn’t hit form all season.

In attack, we can expect to see a lot of Joao Felix again. The €126 million man seems to finally feel comfortable in Madrid and has been in hot form over the last couple of months. Felix scored twice over the weekend against Alaves and has recorded 10 goal involvements in his last 10 appearances. Atletico will rely heavily on counter-attacks and Felix will play a key part in them.
