With the new updates in Rainbow Six Siege live since last month, we can be certain this year’s EUL tournament will give us something special. 10 teams consisting of BDS Esports, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Team Secret, Wolves Esports, Heroic, Outsiders, Rogue, MNM Gaming and PWNZ face off for the European title and the chance to qualify for the biggest Rainbow Six tournament out there, the Six Invitational.

What are the new updates?

Before getting any deeper into the teams themselves, let’s first address the most exciting part of this year’s tournament, namely, the new updates. Aside from featuring a new operator, Grim, Ubisoft has made quite a few changes to the game-play as well.

The first change is the recoil system. We wouldn’t say that recoil is now harder to control but rather that it is more realistic and manageable on some weapons now. This adds to the game’s realism and significantly improves the feel and the feedback the players get.

The second update that will be a huge game changer is the suppressor damage drop. Players are now able to use suppressed weapons without suffering a decrease in that weapon’s damage output. This means that operators like Smoke, Finka and Ela will have the same damage output with a much smaller recoil and more concentrated bullet pattern. What this means in practice is that players will now be encouraged to take more risks, play a different style (stealth) and make impressive kills from a much greater distance than before.

Lastly, the most interesting addition to the Rainbow Six Siege roster is the new operator, Grim. Equipped with a 552 Commando assault rifle or for more adventurous players, the SG-CQB Shotgun, Grim stands as one of the more versatile operators able to adapt to many different play styles. His gadget, odd as it may sound, is a bee launcher. The Kawan Hive Launcher is a special gadget that deploys a swarm of bees into enemy territory causing confusion and “bee’d” vision. How the teams utilize his gadget will definitely be something to watch out for!

Finally, we come to the teams themselves. This year’s favourites for winning the title are BDS Esports and Wolves Esports being priced at 4.50. Following close behind is Rogue with a price of 6.50 on them to take the title.

The last round’s winners, Heroic, seem to be on the back foot with the odds on them being priced at 7.50. A surprise for sure given that they are the current No. 1 team in the overall standings.

As they have already qualified for the Six Invitational, will Heroic find their footing and maintain their advantage? This tournament will reveal all!
