UFC Fight Night Paris: Heavyweights Ciryl Gane vs. Tai Tuivasa Headline a Strong French Card

This Saturday night sees the UFC continue its rapid growth across the European market with a full Fight Night scheduled to take place in Paris for the first time.

Home favourite Ciryl Gane takes on popular heavyweight Tai Tuivasa in the co-main event alongside Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori. In what is shaping up to be an excellent spectacle, the two main events are supported by a card of ten additional fights featuring a host of local French fighters.

ウィリアムヒルHere’s a look at the odds from bookmaker William Hill in what promises to be an entertaining evening.

Current Odds Date & Time: August 31st, 07:00 A.M. (GMT)

The heavyweight co-main event has UFC fans on the edge of their seats already. With bookmaker William Hill giving odds of 1.17 to 5.00 in favour of Ciryl Gane, it may appear as though this match up will be a little one-sided. However, the last time Tai Tuivasa fought as an underdog, he knocked out Derrick Lewis, the most recent man to defeat heavyweight champion Francis N’Gannou.

Expect Tuivasa to come out swinging and try to draw Gane into a brawl here. If Gane is able to resist the temptation, he should be able to stay on the outside and win through superior reach and technique. However, Tuivasa has the ability to end this one fast regardless of what the bookmakers say, so putting money on the knockout in his favour may not go amiss.

UFC Paris’s other main event, Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori, features two of the top three middleweight fighters in the competition. In fact, neither of these men have lost in the last six years, except for their fights against Israel Adesanya, the reigning UFC middleweight champion.

With both Whittaker and Vettori having lost to Adesanya twice in their careers, they’ll be eager to assert themselves as the No. 2 middleweight in the UFC and book a rematch against the champion. William Hill has the odds closer in comparison to the other main event with Whittaker ahead paying 1.40 for a win compared to Vettori’s 2.90.

Outside of the main events, several main card fights also promise to be close contests and good betting opportunities. William Gomis vs. Jarno Errens features a home favourite on an eight match winning streak against a similarly matched featherweight. Gomis is priced at 1.44 to 2.75 for Errens.

There’s every chance that Charles Jourdain and Nathaniel Wood could be the fight of the night in the featherweight division. Both men favour the stand up game and have high rates of significant strikes thrown and absorbed. This recipe for a bloodbath sees Jourdain narrowly ahead in the odds, 1.67 to 2.20.
