The weekend’s feature fight between Cory Sandhagen and Yadong Song is set to be a classic match-up between power and range.
Sandhagen heads into the bout as the 1.44 favorite compared to Song at 2.75. With a professional record of 14-4-0, Sandhagen has hit the rockiest patch of his career so far going 2-3-0 over the last two years. After winning the first five matches he fought in the UFC, the American will be desperate to not slip further down the rankings and jeopardize his UFC contract.
Yadong Song, on the other hand, is younger and has raced his way up the UFC pecking order since his debut. With a record of 8-1-2, a win here would put Song in a strong position to push for a title fight over the next year. However, the 24-year-old will be hard-pressed to come away with a victory on Saturday as his powerful strikes will likely be neutralized by Sandhagen’s superior range and one-two combinations.
Expect Sandhagen to get his UFC career back on track with a win here at 1.44.
Of the other match-ups occurring at UFC Vegas 60, few others are closer than Andre Fili vs. Bill Algeo.
Both experienced fighters, Fili is the ever-so-slight favorite at 1.80 against Algeo’s odds of 2.00. Here, we can expect real desperation from Fili, who has gone two years without a win after beginning his career 13-1-0. The American will be looking to stay on the outside and pick off points while Algeo will be eager to avoid a prolonged affair and search for the knockout. Though there’s every chance Fili will open himself up to a knockout, more than likely the veteran will pick up a much-needed win through a decision.
Other close encounters include Aspen Ladd vs. Sara McMann in the preliminary card where the odds are incredibly tight again. Ladd leads at 1.80 with McMann behind priced at 2.00 despite being almost 15 years older than her opponent.
