RB Leipzig are off to a disappointing start to the season and will hope to finally have something to cheer about on Saturday against Union Berlin.
The two teams met three times last season and the match ended 2-1 on all occasions. Will the trend continue? Bookmaker 10bet has the odds at 2.20 for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals on Saturday.

Union won both meetings in the league in 2021-22 and Leipzig came out on top in the German Cup semifinals. The Red Bulls ended up winning the cup on penalties against Freiburg to carry some very good momentum into the new campaign, but things haven’t worked out so far. The team started the season with a Super Cup defeat against Bayern Munich and has drawn both league outings so far.
It won’t be easy for Leipzig to open their wins account in the Bundesliga against a side that has beaten them in three consecutive league meetings. Additionally, Union have developed into a well-organized team during their time in the top flight and they have been a rock-solid home side with only nine losses suffered at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei across three seasons.
There have been just three home losses during the past two seasons for Union and the impressive run of results should give Urs Fischer’s men a lot of confidence ahead of a match-up against Timo Werner and Christopher Nkunku.
Werner needed just over half an hour last weekend against FC Köln to regain his scoring form in the Bundesliga and Nkunku has carried his incredible form from last season into this campaign by scoring in all of the team’s three games. The duo can be a nightmare for any opposition and Union’s defense is getting a proper test.
The side from the capital has started the league season with a comfortable 3-1 derby win over Hertha and a 0-0 draw against Mainz. The club suffered a big blow at the start of the summer when top scorer Taiwo Awoniyi moved to Nottingham Forest, but his replacement Jordan Siebatcheu is off to a good start in Germany with two goals in three games across all competitions and Fischer should be very encouraged by what he has seen from his troops.
These teams meet in the Bundesliga for the seventh time, and incredibly, there hasn’t yet been a single draw in the match-up. They have combined for an average of three goals per game in the head-to-head clashes, so this should be a very entertaining game.
