Wolves started their current hot streak on Dec. 15 with a 1-0 win over Brighton and their run of results includes a draw against Chelsea and a win over Manchester United. Bruno Lage’s men have lost just three of their last 16 league outings and it could very well end up being another frustrating night for Arsenal.

Lage had a very rough start in England with three straight league defeats, but you could see straight away that his approach has brought a new lease of life to the team and it was only a matter of time before the results started coming.

The former Benfica boss has made the Wolves a rock-solid defensive side that gives up the fourth-fewest shots in the league and only Manchester City (14) have conceded fewer goals than Wolverhampton (16) this season.

The team’s spectacular defensive play has allowed goalkeeper Jose Sa to make a name for himself during his debut campaign. The former Olympiacos man leads the league with an 84.8 save percentage and many experts have him down as their signing of the season. It’s hard to argue against the fact considering that Wolves snapped him up for just £7.2 million.

Sa has conceded only four goals in his last 10 league appearances and he’s given up more than one goal just twice all season. Arsenal really need to step up their form here to have a chance of re-igniting their top-four push.

Mikel Arteta’s side made big strides in December with a four-game winning streak, but they have yet to taste victory in 2022 and it’s left them sitting sixth in the table, which is just a couple of points ahead of the Wolves.

It’s looked like the team needs help, but Arteta didn’t bring anyone in during the January transfer window and he seems to still have a lot of confidence in his young side.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of town, all four of Arsenal’s top scorers in the league this season are now aged 23 or younger. Taking on a team like the Wolves will be a great test for the young Gunners and a win should provide a good boost to their confidence.
