Can West Ham Finally Get Off the Mark at Villa Park?

West Ham United have made a very disappointing start to the 2022-23 Premier League campaign and are still looking for their first points of the season. Next up for David Moyes’ men is a trip to Villa Park to face an Aston Villa team that has also struggled so far.

ウィリアムヒルBookmaker William Hill has the odds at 1.70 for both teams to score in the contest and at 2.05 for both sides not to score.

Getting points against Manchester City in the opening round was always going to be extremely tough for West Ham, but they have faced Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion since then and really should have something to show for their work by now.

West Ham haven’t scored a single goal either so far and this despite producing 38 shots across their three league outings. A 6-1 aggregate victory over Viborg in the UEFA Conference League shows that the team can be very prolific, but things simply haven’t worked out for them properly in the Premier League.

Villa boast a win and two losses from their first three league fixtures. The campaign got off to a very poor start as Steven Gerrard’s men lost against newly-promoted Bournemouth and the performances in the next two outings against Everton and Crystal Palace weren’t great either.

The Villans already had a poor finish to last season and things could get quite uncomfortable pretty soon for Gerrard if he can’t find a way to turn things around. The team received a boost in confidence by beating Bolton 4-1 in the Carabao Cup Tuesday night, but they now have to show up in the league fixtures as well and prove that they want to play for their manager.

History is strongly backing West Ham on Sunday. The Hammers beat Villa on both occasions last season and they haven’t suffered a defeat in the match-up since 2015. David Moyes’ side is even riding a four-game winning streak against Villa.

Another victory in this fixture would be very important for West Ham as they have a pair of very tough games against Tottenham and Chelsea coming up and things would look rather bleak for the team in just a couple of weeks’ time if they end up sitting without a single point six games into the season.
