Tahiyra to Take Top Spot as the Fillies Head to Newmarket for the 1000 Guineas

After the colts take centre stage in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday, it is the fillies’ turn in the 1000 Guineas on Sunday.

The 1 mile race for 3-year-olds – the second of five British classics – has attracted 20 runners for this year’s edition.

ウィリアムヒルThey are headed in the market by Tahiyra, who is at 3.00 with William Hill and could give trainer Dermot Weld a first winner in this race.

※ Current Odds Date & Time: May 5th, 5:30 P.M. (BST)

Chris Hayes is on board, as he was for her first two races which both ended in victory over seven furlongs, the most recent the Grade 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh on soft ground.

Aidan O’Brien has trained five of the last seven winners in this race and hopes of continued good form rest on Meditate and jockey Ryan Moore’s shoulders. Second in two Group 1s in September, she won November’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland and is now 6.50.

Two runs, two wins at Newmarket is Mammas Girl’s career record and though she has to travel an extra furlong this time she looks capable of giving trainer Richard Hannon a second 1000 Guineas win. Kevin Slott will ride the 7.50 shot as her usual jockey Sean Levey rides 34.00 chance Powerdress for Hannon.

At 8.00 is Remarquee for Ralph Beckett who warmed up for this perfectly with a win in the Fred Darley Stakes at Newbury last month, beating Stenton Glider (26.00). Rob Hornby retains the ride after securing two wins from two so far.

Dream Of Love at 8.50 is Charlie Appleby’s best chance of a maiden victory in this contest. She was second at Meydan in January after taking a third and a win at Newmarket in October. William Buick is also seeking his first win in this race.

Frankie Dettori, meanwhile, is looking for a fifth 1000 Guineas win in what will be his last running. He rides Ralph Beckett’s other runner, Lezoo (15.00), who beat Meditate to win the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket last time out.

Beating Dream Of Love at Meydan was Mawj for Godolphin and Saeed bin Suroor. She won there again in February over a mile having only managed third in the Cheveley Park. At 13.00 she has Oisin Murphy riding her for the first time.

Next in the market come Stenton Glider and Powerdress, respectively, and it is 41.00 bar those, out to rank outsider Sweet Harmony at 126.00.
