Manchester City Aiming for Top Spot in Meeting with Arsenal

City is looking for an 11th consecutive league victory over Arsenal and has already beaten Mikel Arteta’s side in the FA Cup this season. Nathan Ake scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory on Jan. 27.

A defeat to Tottenham followed the triumph over Arsenal, but it turned out to be only a slight blip for City as the team was back to its best last weekend against Aston Villa. A three-goal first half laid the foundation for a comfortable 3-1 victory.

Riyad Mahrez lead the charge against the Villans with a goal and an assist, and the team will need another big performance from him on Wednesday, particularly after Erling Haaland got hurt on Sunday. The Norwegian goal machine hasn’t been ruled out for the game, but he will have very little time to recover and definitely won’t be able to be at 100 percent against Arsenal.

The loss to City started a three-game run without a win for Arsenal across all competitions. They took two consecutive defeats before drawing 1-1 with Brentford on Saturday. The result means that Arteta’s men have managed to win only two of the last five league outings and the poor run of form has opened the door for both Manchester teams to jump into the title race.

Will Arsenal’s good home form help the team get back on track? They have been nearly perfect at Emirates so far this season with eight wins and two draws from 10 games.

The home comforts have suited particularly well for Bukayo Saka who has recorded four goals and four assists in 10 home appearances in the league. He has registered 15 goal involvements in total across the season and Saka should be very eager to reignite Arsenal’s title push on Wednesday.
