The 2023 Counter Strike season continues this week as the eight most in-form teams head to Washington D.C. to contest the BLAST Premier Spring Final. With just under half a million dollars up for grabs, we can expect a hard-fought five days of CS:GO action.
Team Vitality heads into the Spring Final 2023 with the most momentum of all teams and has positioned themselves nicely as the team to beat. With wins in the past two tournaments they’ve played, can Heroic, G2 Esports or FaZe Clan halt Vitality’s momentum? Or will we see the continued resurgence of Astralis build, rekindling the form the Danish lineup saw in 2020?

It’s no surprise that looking at the outright betting odds, Team Vitality is the favourite with bookmaker William Hill to win the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023. With odds of 3.25, they are marginally ahead of second favourites Heroic, who are on 4.00. Not far behind these two leaders are G2 Esports, FaZe Clan and Cloud9 with odds of 5.00, 5.50 and 6.50 respectively.
Still somewhat in the conversation is Astralis at 13.00 before Complexity Gaming and Imperial are given virtually no chance at 51.00 and 67.00.
There are two reasons why Team Vitality is the clear favourite here. First, they’ve put together two complete performances in the past six weeks, first winning the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023 before most recently dominating the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. Considering it’s been over a year since any other team won consecutive S-tier tournaments, this is an impressive streak of form that Team Vitality is in right now.
Second, Vitality’s main rivals are all presenting some concerning signs. In the most recent event, the Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023, G2 Esports crashed out in the quarterfinals. Both Heroic and FaZe Clan were not much better, exiting in the semi-finals. Considering these are the next three favourites to win the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023, this poor form only serves to magnify Team Vitality’s case.
For those who are hesitant to bank on Team Vitality winning three big ones in a row, a dark horse bet to consider would be Astralis. Admittedly, it’s years since Astralis was a dominant force in CS:GO. However, they have the legacy and the infrastructure to return to the top of the game and are showing promising signs. At the Dallas event, Astrailis beat both Team Liquid and Cloud9, only losing to both of the eventual finalists.
Could this be the start of a revival for the Danish team? With odds of 13.00 and a potentially open draw, it’s certainly a bet worth considering.
