The American star, who scored his third goal in seven Serie A appearances over the weekend versus Lazio, heads back home after starting his career on the top level with Dortmund. It would no doubt mean a lot for him to score again at Signal Iduna Park.
The loss in Paris was a big disappointment for BVB, but Dortmund is now at home in the second round of fixtures and must feel confident of its chances of getting points on the board. Dating back to the start of last season, Edin Terzic’s side has suffered only one home defeat across all competitions. In 2022-23, even Manchester City couldn’t figure out a way to beat Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, and just six visiting sides avoided defeat.
Milan has previously recorded three wins over Dortmund, with the two teams having met six times in UEFA competitions. Dortmund has won two of the clashes, and the first ever head-to-head clash in 1958 ended in a draw between them. Each side collected a 1-0 road win the last time they met in Europe, with Filippo Inzaghi being the goal-scoring hero when the teams clashed in Germany.
