Djurgardens has been one of the in-form teams in the Swedish Allsvenskan in recent months and Monday’s meeting with Malmo gives the side a chance to extend its unbeaten streak to eight games.
These teams have combined for 58 goals this season and the Tele2 Arena should be set for an entertaining clash Monday. Bookmaker 10bet has the odds at 1.76 for over 2.5 goals in the match.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: July 16th, 6:00 P.M. (EST)
Djurgardens’ current hot streak is a great response to a poor start as the team collected only 10 points from the opening eight games of the season. They are playing a lot better defensively as of late and always seem to score, with everybody getting in on the act. Already 10 players have scored for Djurgardens this season and nobody has registered more than three goals.
Led by co-head coaches Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlof, Djurgardens also head into Monday’s match-up with a great home record. Norrkoping is the only visiting side to avoid defeat at the Tele2 Arena this season as Djurgardens have completely dominated at home by scoring 15 times and giving up only four goals.
Malmo is looking to get back into rhythm after losing two of the last five Allsvenskan games. First-year head coach Henrik Rydstrom started out at the club with eight consecutive wins in the league but Malmo then suddenly hit a roadblock. There’s been a major drop-off defensively, with the team conceding seven goals in its last six outings after allowing just five during its season-opening winning streak.
Rydstrom will look for the prolific duo of Isaac Kiese Thelin and Sebastian Nanasi to get the team back on track. The two have combined for 19 of Malmo’s 35 league goals this season and Kiese Thelin will be aiming to score in a fifth consecutive league game Monday.
The two sides meet for a second time already in the current campaign. Djurgardens hosted a Swedish Cup quarter-final in March and beat Malmo on penalties following a 2-2 draw. Malmo has clearly been the more successful of the two popular clubs in recent seasons, but the clashes with Djurgardens always tend to bring the team trouble. Across, the last seven head-to-head meetings across all competitions, Malmo has managed to record only one win and Djurgardens hasn’t lost a league match to Malmo for three years.
