League of Legends World Championship 2023 | Who Will Win in East vs. West Battle?

League of Legends World Championship 2023

It’s the pinnacle of every League of Legends player’s career—making it to the World Championship. Organisers Riot Games say that more than 800 players from over 100 eSports teams have competed to be at the tournament and this Monday, it’s due to kick off with the best 22 teams in the world all vying for the Summoner’s Cup. As one of the largest eSports tournaments in the calendar, this is not an event to be missed.

With LOL Worlds seeing the best LOL leagues come together to fight it out for the world title, fans get the rare opportunity to see Eastern and Western teams collide. It’s been over a decade since a Western team won—will 2023 be the year that this curse is broken? G2 Esports will be hoping so, but they’ll have some tough opposition from the likes of China’s JD Gaming and South Korea’s Gen.G if they’re to be successful.

It’s clear who bookmaker bet365 thinks will win the LOL Worlds 2023—JD Gaming. With the Chinese team paying only 2.25 to win in Seoul, they’re well ahead of the rest of the betting favourites. Next is home favourite Gen.G, who return 6.00 for an outright winner bet. From here the odds are quite congested as LNG Esports are close by on 7.00, before T1 pay 8.00 and Bilibili Gaming round out the top five at 10.00 to win.

Odds to reach the final are very similar, with JD Gaming a heavy 1.61 favourite to feature in the final match of the tournament. Gen.G, LNG Esports, T1 and Bilibili Gaming are all rated to make deep runs as well, paying between 3.50 and 5.00 to do so.

The big question is can anyone take down JD Gaming this year? The Chinese team has won everything they’ve touched this year—quite literally, competing in just three S-tier tournaments in 2023 and winning all three. Gen.G is their biggest competition, but their fourth placed finish at the Mid-Season Invitational 2023 was a bit of a concern result.

G2 Esports is also an exciting bolter bet considering their odds of 26.00 to win. However, despite their three S-Tier wins in 2023, the reality is they’ll be up against very different competition at the LOL Worlds 2023 and will likely struggle. It may not be the most lucrative or exciting wager, but we suggest backing JD Gaming to win at 2.25 and Gen.G to make the final at 3.50.
