Can Charlotte Slow Down Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks?

The Milwaukee Bucks (33-17) have put together a four-game winning streak ever since Giannis Antetokounmpo returned to the lineup and the Charlotte Hornets (15-36) are now the next team that tries to figure out how to slow down the 2021 champions.

BetOnline LogoThe Hornets have managed a mini streak of their own with two consecutive victories, but the bookmakers give them very little hope for Tuesday night. BetOnline has Milwaukee as an 11-point favorite for the contest with the odds at -110, and a high-scoring game is expected with the total at 239.5 points.

Giannis missed five games with knee soreness earlier in the month, but he has been simply unstoppable since returning and even posted his fifth career 50-point game last time out against the Pelicans. He has been averaging 38.3 points and 12.8 rebounds overall during his current hot streak.

The Greek Freak should be fully motivated for another huge effort on Tuesday as he’ll have a point to prove after settling for only nine points against Charlotte in the previous meeting. He couldn’t get anything going in the match-up on Jan. 6 and the Hornets ended up embarrassing Giannis’ crew with a 138-109 victory, scoring 51 points in the first quarter alone.

Terry Rozier led the Hornets with a season-high 39 points four weeks ago and could be gearing up for another special outing after a couple of impressive performances. He has notched a total of 59 points across the last two games. Meeting Milwaukee appears to bring the best out of Rozier as he also had a 26-point night in the match-up at the start of December.

LaMelo Ball will likely also relish the opportunity to test himself against the former MVP and his team. Ankle injuries have had a very negative impact on his game and Ball hasn’t fully hit his best form, but the talent is there and he has a chance to show it on Tuesday against one of the best teams in the league.

The teams have split two previous meetings this season and the series between them has been very tight in recent years with neither team managing more than two victories on the bounce. All of the last six meetings have been won by the home side and it looks likely that the streak will continue on Tuesday.
