Indy’s Bubble of Madness: The Road to NCAA Glory

It’s been an up and down season to say the least, but we have finally reached the point of NCAA basketball glory, the NCAA tournament.

With COVID-19 and a multitude of other factors popping up over the past few months, few could have imagined we would reach this point.

And yet here we are with the top four squads leading us into March Madness being Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan, and Villanova.

Online bookmaker BetOnline has Gonzaga as having the best chances of winning the whole thing at +275 meanwhile both Michigan and Villanova carry the lowest odds of the four at +900.

At this point in the season, it seems like a one-horse race with Gonzaga leading the way. Meanwhile powerhouses like Duke and Kentucky have fallen of quite a bit this year as neither one even cracks the top 20 for odds to win the tournament.

To say this season has been a strange one would be quite the understatement.

Still, at the beginning of the season Gonzaga, Baylor, and Villanova all carried odds of +900, and so while none of them have fallen off track, it is Gonzaga which has clearly taken the lead.

However, anything is possible when it comes to March Madness (hence the name) and adding in the COVID regulations certainly complicates things even more.

For one, this year all teams will be playing in Indianapolis as opposed to their normal plan of spreading them to different cities throughout the country. They will be partnering with local health providers in Indiana to create a controlled environment for all players, coaches, administrators, and officials.

After seeing how successful the NBA was with their “bubble” concept, it looks as though the NCAA is going to fall in line. It should create an exciting atmosphere, and a safe process to carry us throughout the tournament.

While there are undoubtedly a lot of variables to consider, there is no question that this year’s tournament is going to be one for the ages.
