Tottenham’s season has started the fall apart and the club is clearly in panic mode after getting rid of interim manager Cristian Stellini when he had just four games to work with the team. It’s been only a month since Antonio Conte was sacked and the team now has to adjust to yet another new man at the helm.

Ryan Mason starts his second spell in charge of the team after also taking over from Jose Mourinho in 2021. He did reasonably the first time out, winning four and losing two Premier League games.

Mason’s first task will be to sort out Tottenham’s defense. The team has allowed nine goals in two games for the first time in 20 years and only Leeds (33) has conceded more Premier League goals than the Spurs (28) in 2023. If Mason can’t tighten things up at the back, Tottenham will find it very difficult to avoid another disappointing result.

United has suffered some setbacks as well recently, particularly in the Europa League against Sevilla, but they have just qualified for the FA Cup final and have won three in a row in the Premier League without conceding a single goal. Things could clearly be going worse for Erik ten Hag and his troops.

The Red Devils have also always dominated against Tottenham. They have a chance to post a 40th Premier League victory in the match-up and the Spurs have produced only three home wins in 21 games against United. If Ten Hag’s men are successful again on Thursday, United would record their longest winning streak over the Spurs since having a seven-game run in 2001-2003.

United has done well defensively lately, but they have given up 21 goals in five away games against the current top seven of the league. It will be tough to improve the record with a number of key defenders out of the lineup due to injury, but a proper team performance could be enough to get United past a Tottenham team that has looked all over the place in recent weeks.
