Can Angers Shock Undermanned PSG at the Parc des Princes?

Ligue 1 action resumes on Friday with PSG hosting Angers. The Parisians find themselves in a tough spot with a number of players missing and it gives Angers a chance to end a 12-game losing streak in the matchup.

10Bet LogoBookmaker 10Bet has the odds at 9.00 for Angers to shock PSG with a victory and at 3.50 for them to get at least a draw at Parc des Princes.

Les Scoistes have lost all meetings with PSG ever since playing out a goalless draw in 2015. They have scored just five times during the losing run while giving up 38 goals. It’s a very ugly streak but PSG’s selection problems should boost Angers’ chances of turning the tide.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino won’t be able to rely on some of his biggest stars as Brazil and Argentina are playing South American World Cup qualifiers and it will be impossible for the players to make it back in time for the match against Angers. Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes will face Peru, and Neymar and Marquinhos are set to battle with Uruguay.

Pochettino’s men will look to bounce back from the first league loss of the season. The team produced a very disappointing performance on Oct. 3 going down 2-0 to Rennes without getting any of their 13 efforts on target.

PSG have dropped just three points in Ligue 1, but many of their victories have come via late goals as Pochettino seems to have struggled to make his star-studded squad gel.

With the likes of Neymar, Messi and Di Maria unavailable, PSG will look to Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi to lead the offense.

Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but he hasn’t let the speculation bother him much registering four goals and five assists in 11 appearances across all competitions. Icardi looks like a forgotten man in Paris these days, but he’s popped up with a few vital goals this season and boasts three league goals with just four starts.

However, scoring against Angers isn’t among the easiest tasks in the world. Gerald Baticle’s men have allowed a league-low 7.8 shots per game this season and only one team has managed to beat Angers. They still boast an unbeaten road record as well with one win and three draws.
