ATP 500: ABN AMRO Open 2024 | Will Sinner Be the Winner in Rotterdam?

The dust from the Australian Open has well and truly settled now and it’s time for some big names on the ATP Tour to reemerge. This week, the first ATP 500 event of the season takes place in the Netherlands, with Rotterdam playing host to the ABN AMRO Open 2024.

Jannik Sinner is top seed in Rotterdam and arrives to the tournament in red-hot form. The Italian has had two weeks to rest up after winning his maiden Grand Slam and all eyes will be on him this week to see how he performs. He’ll have a stiff challenge on his hands, however, with the likes of Andrey Rublev, Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, Hubert Hurkacz and Ugo Humbert all in excellent form as well and vying for the title.

ウィリアムヒルWho will prevail? We look to the odds from bookmaker William Hill to outline some of the best bets this week ahead of the first serve at the Rotterdam Open 2024.

Current Odds Date & Time: February 12th, 2:30 A.M. (GMT)

Outright betting odds are strongly skewed in favour of Jannik Sinner. The world No.4 pays just 2.25 to win the ABN AMRO Open, with the next closest players paying 8.00, in the form of Holger Rune and Andrey Rublev. Behind these two come Hubert Hurkacz on 10.00 and Grigor Dimitrov on 11.00, ahead of Alex de Minaur at 13.00.

As far as ATP 500 fields go, this is a very competitive field. Not only are there four top 10 players, but several contestants come to Rotterdam off the back of some strong results already in 2024. Alex de Minaur lit the world on fire in January when he defeated three top 10 players in a row at the United Cup; Rublev has an ATP 250 title, a Grand Slam quarter-final and a UTS title already this season; Humbert has just won in Marseille and of course Sinner won the Australian Open.

In terms of the best bets to make, our first advice is not to back Sinner this week. Sure, the Italian has looked virtually unstoppable the last three months, but a return of 2.25 is too little for the risk that comes with it. We’ve seen time and time again that strange things happen to players when they win Grand Slams. Sinner seems to have a level head on him, but best to give it a week or two to see how this one plays out.

Instead, we recommend backing Rublev to keep the fire burning in Europe. The Russian just played brilliant tennis over the weekend to win UTS Oslo, a spin off of format of tennis with a raft of funky rules changes. He’s 8-1 on the season and wins ATP 250s like they’re going out of fashion, particularly in February and October when everyone else is tired from their long Grand Slam campaigns. Expect him to do well here on the fast courts of Rotterdam and claim a 16th career title.
