Milan have picked up nine wins and one draw in their 10 outings in the league. It’s only the second season in club history during which the Rossoneri have managed to win more than eight games in their first 10 Serie A matches.

With No. 1 goalkeeper Mike Maignan out injured, Milan had a few rough defensive outings recently but were back in clean sheet form midweek in a 1-0 victory over Torino. Olivier Giroud scored the only goal of the game.

Giroud is off to a very nice start at his new club scoring four goals in his first six league appearances and doing it in only 425 minutes of action. He’s tied for the team lead in goals with Rafael Leao who’s scored in two consecutive away games.

Playing on the road tends to be difficult but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Milan. They have suffered just five away defeats in the league since Stefano Pioli took over as manager in October 2019. Their run in 2021 includes 14 wins in 17 away outings.

It’s almost like a clash between away specialists and home specialists. Mourinho’s ride in Rome has been rocky in recent weeks but all of the negative results have come away from home. He started life at the helm with six consecutive home victories before playing out a goalless draw with Napoli.

Mourinho’s men have also enjoyed rare away success this week, which should up their confidence ahead of Sunday’s big clash. They came from behind to beat Cagliari 2-1 on Wednesday with Lorenzo Pellegrini recording a goal and an assist.

Pellegrini has been huge for Mourinho throughout the season notching five goals and two assists in nine league appearances. The Roma captain will now look to lead his team to a rare victory in the matchup with Milan. The Giallorossi have won just once in the last seven meetings.
