Can Mönchengladbach Shock Bayern Again?

Bayern Munich are up against their bogey team once again on Saturday as the German giants host Borussia Mönchengladbach. Julian Nagelsmann’s men failed to win any of the three meetings with Borussia last season and even lost a cup game 5-0. Will it be a different story this time around?

10Bet LogoBayern are massive favorites for the game and they are expected to dominate in every department, including the corners. Bookmaker 10bet has the corners handicap set at -3.5 for Bayern with the odds at 1.86.

Gladbach were the only side to avoid defeat against Bayern in the Bundesliga last season and they always seem to find a way to cause them trouble as the 32-time German champs have won just six head-to-head meetings since 2014.

It would be a huge shock if Bayern again struggles in the fixture on Saturday after the team produced their best start in Bundesliga history by registering a perfect record through the first three games of the season with a 15-1 goal difference. Robert Lewandowski might be gone, but the team is still full of goals and has been scoring for fun so far.

Without Lewandowski, the scoring is now shared around a lot more and there are already six players with three goal involvements in the league. Nagelsmann should be over the moon by how his side has started the season.

Borussia’s start hasn’t gone bad either. In fact, they could also be sitting on a perfect record after three games if it weren’t for a stoppage-time penalty in a 2-2 draw against Schalke. The team had an awful time under Adi Hütter last season, but Daniel Farke has rejuvenated the squad and Mönchengladbach look ready to compete for a Champions League spot again.

Considering Bayern’s hot scoring form, Farke needs to find a way to limit the host’s chances in the match and hope that his attacking duo of Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea remains in form. Thuram has produced two goals and an assist through the first three league games of the season and Plea boasts one goal and two assists.

Bayern haven’t conceded in back-to-back games, but they failed to register a single three-game run of clean sheets during the whole of last season. It’s an encouraging fact for Farke’s men, although they will know that scoring opportunities will come at a premium and they need to be ruthless with them if they get any.
