Friday night brings a much-awaited super featherweight fight between the unbeaten American Shakur Stevenson and his Brazilian challenger, Robson Conceicao. With Stevenson holding a record of 18-0-0 and Conceicao coming into this bout at 17-1-0, we can expect a high quality boxing match to decide the WBO/WBC Super Featherweight champion.
Stevenson enters the fight having recently taken the WBC belt off Oscar Valdez in April of this year to go with the WBO belt he won earlier last year. Conceicao, on the other hand, lost to Valdez late last year through a contentious decision with many believing the Brazilian should be holding the WBC belt right now alongside an unbeaten record.
With plenty on the line to fight for, bookmaker William Hill has the odds ahead of Friday night’s clash.

Despite Conceicao having only one loss to his name and a debatable one at that, he heads into this match-up as the overwhelming underdog. Bookmaker William Hill has the odds at 8.50 for Conceicao to pull off an upset here and Shakur Stevenson sitting as the firm favourite at 1.05.
Billed as America’s next Floyd Mayweather, six years ago Stevenson lost in the Rio Olympics Gold Medal fight walking away with a silver medal in hand. Since then, the 25-year-old has not lost a match and barely lost a round racing out to a 18-0-0 professional record over the last six years that has seen him collect two belts along the way.
Conceicao on the other hand is the older fighter at 33 years old. The Brazilian will feel remiss that he doesn’t already have a world title to his name after being robbed against Valdez and will be eager to take that frustration out on Stevenson this weekend.
It looks like the best bet in this fight is to take Stevenson by decision, which pays 1.61 at William Hill.
Stevenson is quickly proving himself to be a once in a generational talent with an uncanny ability to defend and counter punch from the southpaw stance. There’s nothing particularly exciting about his style, which is near-scientific in its methodical execution, however it reliably gets the job done.
For Conceicao to have a chance in this one, he’ll need to try something different. While his typical approach is aggression in taking the fight to his opponent, any sign of predictability will be capitalized on by Stevenson. Conceicao will need to be unorthodox in his approach, which could lead to the Brazilian scoring a knockout (odds of 11.00) or getting knocked out (odds of 2.60).
