Bayern has failed to win back-to-back games and it’s opened the door for Borussia Dortmund to run away with the Bundesliga title, but BVB has struggled for consistency as well and it’s led to a lot of lead changes at the top of the table. Following Dortmund’s 1-1 draw with Bochum on Friday, the team leading the pack entering a game-week has won just once in six games.

Thomas Tuchel had a dream start to life in Munich, beating Dortmund 4-2, but only one more victory has followed and there have been three losses in seven games under him. Another negative result against Hertha would be catastrophic for Tuchel as some reports are suggesting that the club is already considering getting rid of him.

Hertha has just started life under a new manager, with Pal Dardai coming in on April 16 for his third spell at the club. It wasn’t a pretty start under him as Hertha gave up four goals at home to Werder Bremen and took a 4-2 loss.

The Berlin side has now lost 17 of its 29 outings this season. With Sandro Schwartz at the helm, the team had a decent start to the campaign and even put together a five-game unbeaten run early on, but it’s been an awful struggle for the Old Lady since mid-October.

Things are unlikely to improve for Hertha on Sunday. They have lost six straight meetings with Bayern and last managed to beat them in 2018. A 2-0 home victory marks their lone triumph over Bayern in the past 24 head-to-head clashes, and Hertha’s last victory in Munich came all the way back in 1977.

The visitors will try to frustrate Tuchel’s men and hang on for as long as possible, but Dortmund’s draw has thrown another lifeline for the Bavarians and you would expect them to take care of business in front of their fans on Sunday.
