The new round of Premier League action begins Saturday at Etihad Stadium where Manchester City will look to put pressure on Arsenal in the title race with a win over Newcastle United.

Over the last couple of match weeks, Arsenal has always played earlier than City and their winning performances have put extra pressure on Pep Guardiola’s men to not slip up. They failed to do so a couple of weeks back in a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest and it’s left the gap with the Gunners at five points.
Based on their history against Newcastle, grabbing the victory this Saturday shouldn’t cause any problems for the team. City has won 13 consecutive home meetings with Newcastle and has scored in 28 straight games against them since a 0-0 draw back in 2006.
Throughout the years, Newcastle has managed just one Premier League away win in the match-up, which came 1-0 via an Alan Shearer goal in 2000.
The Magpies have gone win-less in their last four league games and will be desperate to get back on track but it’s going to be incredibly hard to do on Saturday.
Erling Haaland has been awfully quiet lately and you get the feeling that another monster performance from him is just around the corner. He has managed only two goals in his past five appearances, although Haaland did score a special goal a week ago against Bournemouth, hitting his 27th Premier League goal, which is the most a City player has managed over a single season in the league.
Haaland & Co. will come up against the stingiest defense in the league that has given up only 15 goals over the course of the season, but there have been cracks appearing at the back for Newcastle in their most recent games as four of the goals they have conceded have come in the last three games.
A clean sheet will be vital for Eddie Howe’s men to walk away with something Saturday. The team is in the midst of an impressive season, but they haven’t been at a high level scoring-wise, and at Etihad you simply have to produce offense to have a chance. Man City last failed to score in a home league outing on Oct. 30, 2021, and across all competitions, they have 24 wins and only one loss from their last 28 games at Etihad.
