After the Nuggets limped to the finish line during the regular season, this looked like a pretty intriguing match-up, but Karl-Anthony Towns has been off form in the series and Minnesota’s defense has left a lot to be desired.

Towns finally showed some life in Game 3, scoring 27 points after combining for only 21 in the first two games of the series, but the team still needs more from him.

The Nuggets have been in cruise control throughout the series so far and appear to be back to their best after ending the regular season with a poor 2-5 run.

Nikola Jokic had a quiet start to the series, but he has just registered his seventh career playoff triple-double and will be aiming to make history in the 2023 playoffs. Wilt Chamberlain has the most playoff triple-doubles among centers and Jokic has a very realistic chance to move past him.

Across the first three games of the series, Jokic has averaged 20 points with 11.3 rebounds and nine assists. He’s been running the show, although the rest of the team deserves great credit as well. The Nuggets have six players averaging double-digit points for the postseason with Jamal Murray topping the list with 27.3 points.

Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards has been the leading scorer in the series with a 31.7-point scoring average and he’s notched even 38.5 points across the last two games, but Edwards has not received good enough support from Towns or anybody else. Denver has a lot more depth and the Timberwolves starters need to be at their very best to survive in the series Sunday.

This has always been a horrible match-up for the Timberwolves. The Nuggets enjoyed a 12-game winning streak against Minnesota before the Timberwolves found a way to end it last season. The results have since then been pretty even, but Chris Finch and his team now need to start a winning streak of their own to avoid an early trip to Cancun.
