Spurs have won just one of the last nine league meetings between these sides and throughout the Premier League years, United boasts 39 victories in the match-up. No other team has beaten a single opponent more in the competition’s history.

Tottenham’s chances of success might be even smaller going forward following the departure of Harry Kane. The post-Kane era started with a 2-2 draw against Brentford in the opening Premier League round. New manager Ange Postecoglou must have been happy to see the side having no problems scoring goals without Kane, but there’s clearly room for improvement defensively.

United boss Erik ten Hag will see areas that need improvement all over the pitch after his side struggled to break down Wolverhampton Monday night. The team couldn’t quite get going in the attack and with the midfield struggling to stay compact, the United defense was all over the place at times, giving up 23 shots. It marks the second most shot attempts against United at Old Trafford since such data became available 20 years ago.

Ten Hag’s men need to be much better at the back for United to win its first two games of a Premier League season for the first time since 2017-18.

United also attempts to improve its horrible London track record. The team has won only one of its last nine trips to the capital. However, the Red Devils do appear to feel comfortable at the new Tottenham stadium, having so far avoided defeat in all four visits. Liverpool is the only other Premier League side not to lose a game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Will it be Marcus Rashford’s time to shine again? He has scored in back-to-back away games against Spurs. United’s No. 10 wasn’t involved much in the game Monday, but he’s coming off a spectacular campaign and should definitely be the focal point of the attack until new signing Rasmus Hojlund gets healthy and nails down a spot in the starting lineup.
