The 61st German Bundesliga season kicks off Friday as Bayern Munich starts its title defense with an away trip to Werder Bremen.
Can Harry Kane mark his German league debut with a goal? Bookmaker William Hill offers odds at a lowly 1.40 for the England captain to score anytime at Weserstadion. The odds are at 3.10 for Kane to net at least two goals and at 8.50 for him to bag a hat trick.

The Bavarians start their hunt for a 12th consecutive league title with a match-up that has been very favorable for the team through the years. Bayern did the league double over Werder last season with a combined score of 8-2, and it’s been 15 years since the last time the Bremen side was able to produce a victory in this fixture.
Between 2010-2020, Bayern even had a 21-game winning streak against Werder, and the FCB has failed to beat them just four times during its current 31-game unbeaten run in the clash.
Werder finds itself in a very tough spot, but Bayern’s performance in the German Super Cup last week left a lot to be desired and a similar effort on Friday would open the door for Ole Werner’s team to grab a good result.
Kane came off the bench to make his Bayern debut last Saturday against RB Leipzig, but Thomas Tuchel’s less-than-impressive spell in charge of the team continued with a 3-0 loss. The former Chelsea and PSG manager now boasts six victories from 13 games with Bayern, having lost five of the matches.
Werder also opened its 2023-24 campaign with a loss, going down 3-2 against third-division side Viktoria Köln in the German Cup. The team’s prolific strike duo of Marvin Ducksch and Niclas Füllkrug got off to a great start to the season as both players scored, but Werder was shocked with a strike in stoppage time.
The team will be disappointed by the defeat, but Amos Pieper’s 11th-minute red card put Werder in a very tough position in the match, and the players shouldn’t be too downhearted with the result.
Bayern is the clear favorite for the clash, but Werder can make things uncomfortable for the visitors if Ducksch and Füllkrug bring their A-game again. The two combined for 28 Bundesliga goals last season, with Füllkrug sharing the league’s top scorers’ honors with Christopher Nkunku.
