Bayern Munich Looks to Lock Up Another Bundesliga Title Against Dortmund

Bayern Munich can seal a 10th consecutive Bundesliga title with a win against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Will the champagne start flowing at Allianz Arena or can Borussia delay Bayern’s party?

These two rarely disappoint in terms of goals as they have played out five straight games with at least four goals. There were five goals in the first meeting of the season when a Robert Lewandowski penalty brought Bayern a 3-2 victory.

Following the win in December, Bayern have now beaten Dortmund in seven straight games. Dortmund last won a league meeting between the two in 2018 and Bayern have been undefeated at home in the fixture since 2014.

It’s been another immense campaign for the Bavarians with Lewandowski leading the charge, and it looks like others in the league don’t stand a chance as long as the Polish goal machine remains in Munich.

Lewandowski has bagged 32 goals in 30 league appearances this season and he’s just three goals short of having his second career 50-goal campaign across all competitions. He rarely leaves his scoring boots at home and Dortmund know it all too well with Lewandowski having scored 26 goals in 25 outings against them.

The BVB will hope that Erling Haaland can match Lewandowski’s goal tally on Saturday and if that’s the case, they will have a decent chance of ending their eight-year win-less streak in Munich.

Haaland has just ended his worst ever Bundesliga dry spell, and like Lewandowski, he also has a great record in the match-up with goals in three straight league meetings against Bayern. The 21-year-old has scored five goals in six games against Bayern overall.

This is likely Haaland’s final season at Dortmund and he will look to finish it in style after being forced to miss a lot of action because of injury.

The Norwegian sensation has featured in just 20 Bundesliga games this season while scoring 18 goals. Had he stayed healthy for the whole campaign, we likely wouldn’t be talking about Bayern securing another title before May even starts.
