There’s a clear favourite this week, and it’s French player Caroline Garcia. The 29-year old leads the betting odds of 4.33, which is a fair way ahead of the second and third favourites Barbora Krejcikova and Luidmilla Samsonova who sit at 6.50 and 7.50 respectively. Behind them, Belinda Bencic and Elena Rybakina round out the top five favourites.

Caroline Garcia has only strengthened her grip on this tournament over the past few days. This weekend her chances have been significantly boosted by the withdrawal of World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who won this tournament in 2021. In addition, the World No. 2 Ons Jabeur and World No. 3 Jessica Pegula have also both pulled out clearing the draw for Caroline Garcia to be the highest ranked woman and effective No. 1 seed in Adelaide this week.

Not only has Garcia benefited from some luck with the three highest ranked players withdrawing, but the Frenchwoman is also in fine form. She finished the 2022 season by winning the WTA Finals in Fort Worth, going on an impressive run against the best seven women in the sport to claim the title. She’s now backed this up in 2023 by opening the year with three victories, playing for France in the United Cup in Australia. With great form and an open draw, Carolina Garcia is an excellent bet to make this week in Adelaide.

Another bet to consider would be wagering on Garcia’s quarter of the draw to produce a winner. While this offers slightly lower odds (3.00 instead of 4.33), it spreads risk and opens up a few other options that could bring this bet to fruition. The fourth favourite in the betting odds and Garcia’s potential quarterfinal opponent is Belinda Bencic would be covered by this bet. The same can be said for two-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Garbine Muruguza as well.
