Durant has been out for 10 games after hurting his left ankle in an unfortunate pregame incident. Before getting injured, the veteran superstar managed to make three appearances as a Sun, averaging 26.7 points.

The Suns won their first game without Durant and will head into Wednesday’s battle off the back of two consecutive wins, but it’s been a struggle for them overall without him and his addition is going to be huge for the team.

For the season overall, Durant has averaged 29.5 points per game, shooting a career-high 56.6 percent from the floor. He turned 34 back in September, but there haven’t been any signs of Durant slowing down and he could eventually be the difference maker in the playoffs that would take the Suns from being a good team to being the best team in the league.

The Timberwolves also have big hopes regarding the postseason as they try to make the playoffs in two consecutive years for the first time since the start of the 2000s. As the current seventh seed in the Western Conference, the T-Wolves should be very highly motivated to get the victory on Wednesday to improve their chances of avoiding the play-in tournament.

Minnesota has won four in a row before Wednesday’s game and it’s been a very impressive run of form, considering both Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards have been battling injuries.

Towns skipped the last game but is fully expected to feature against the Suns. A calf problem robbed him of four months and he should be very eager to finish off the season on a high.

Edwards has struggled in his first two games back from an ankle sprain, but he’s had a wonderful campaign overall and will look to torch the Suns again after scoring a team-high 31 points on 12-for-24 shooting in the last head-to-head meeting on Jan. 13, which Minnesota won 121-116.

The Timberwolves had lost six games in a row in the series before taking advantage of Phoenix’s lineup issues in January. Back then, Durant hadn’t yet joined the team and both Devin Booker and Chris Paul were nursing injuries.
