PGA Tour: Farmers Insurance Open 2024 | Are Back-to-Back Upsets on the Cards?

The West Coast swing of the PGA Tour continues this week with San Diego, California, playing host to the next tournament. With the Farmers Insurance Open kicking off on Wednesday and playing through to Saturday in a scheduling quirk, there’s plenty of firepower showing up this week.

Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa lead the pack, while they’ll get stiff competition from the likes of Patrick Cantlay and Max Homa as well. Will these big names dominate the Torrey Pines South Course, or is another upset on the cards like we saw at The American Express over last weekend?

ウィリアムヒルWe break down the latest betting odds from bookmaker William Hill and outline the best bets to make on the Farmers Insurance Open 2024.

Current Odds Date & Time: January 24th, 4:00 A.M. (GMT)

Outright betting odds from bookmaker William Hill have Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa joint favourites ahead of the first tee this Wednesday. The pair sit at 10.00 in the betting odds, only narrowly ahead of Patrick Cantlay and Max Homa who are returning 11.00 for a win in San Diego this weekend. Ludvig Aberg squeezes into fifth spot at the bookies, rounding out the top five betting favourites.

Odds to make the top five see a few deviations from the outright betting market. Schauffele is still favoured at 3.25, but Cantlay bunny hops into second at 3.50. Morikawa and Homa follow on 4.00, before Sungjae Im squeezes into fifth alongside Aberg.

In terms of the best bets to make on the Farmers Insurance Open, the volatility of golf betting makes this more about the pricing of odds than who’s most likely to win. After all, an amateur returning 301.00 took out The American Express.

We say Eric Cole’s odds are under-priced, given his solid running so far in 2024. The American has made three top 25 finishes so far this year and is well-placed to continue that form in San Diego. Back him to win at a massive 34.00, or to make the top five for a still lucrative 8.00 return.

Outside of a wager on Eric Cole, we recommend staying away from the bookies’ favourite Xander Schauffele. The 30-year-old may be odds-on to win the event, but he’s failed to make the top 10 at this tournament the past two years in a row. His T3 last week was encouraging, but a price of 10.00 simply isn’t enough to wager that he’ll overcome his issues with this course in a matter of days.
