PGA Tour: Hero World Challenge 2023 | Can Woods Spring a Surprise in Albany?

It’s a tough time of year for sports fans to turn their attention to golf, with other American sports in full swing right now. However, the PGA Tour has one big draw card this weekend and that’s the return of Tiger Woods at his Hero World Challenge tournament tomorrow. The former world No 1 will take to the green for the first time since April 2023, in his foundation’s flagship event.

With Viktor Hovland winning the past two editions of the Hero World Challenge, the Norwegian again heads to the Bahamas as the man to beat this week. Scottie Scheffler will be eager to exact revenge, however, having fallen painstakingly short the past two years at the Albany Golf Course. Can the American make it third time luck? Or will Woods have a miraculous return?

bet365We seek answers to these questions by breaking down the latest odds from bookmaker bet365 and outline the best bets to make on the PGA Tour this week.

Current Odds Date & Time: November 30th, 12:30 A.M. (GMT)

Understandably, two-time defending champion Viktor Hovland is bookmaker bet365’s favourite here with odds of 4.75. Just behind the world No 4 is current world No 1, Scottie Scheffler, on 5.75 to win the tournament. Somewhat off the pace is third favourite Colin Morikawa, closely followed by Max Homa, with the pair on 8.50 and 9.00 respectively. Rounding out the top five betting favourites is Justin Thomas at 15.00.

Odds to finish in the top five are low at the Hero World Challenge, considering the field only consists of 20 players. Hovland leads at 1.55, through to Thomas at 2.62.

We see two strong bets to make this week on the PGA Tour. Firstly, expect Scottie Scheffler to gain revenge for his two runner up finishes in the past two years. The American is world No 1 for a reason and has been in the form of his life the past six months. While there’s something of a holiday vibe in the Bahamas at this tournament, considering it isn’t an official event and there are no FedEx points on the line, Scheffler is still the ultimate competitor and he won’t miss a chance to start the season with a win here.

Our other bet is actually for Tiger Woods to put in a surprisingly strong performance. To expect a victory is a bit of a stretch, but the all-time great wouldn’t be returning unless he was close to full health. Back Woods to make a top five finish and catch the world’s attention again, garnering a 6.50 return as well.
