There’s no denying the fact that it’s been a tumultuous few years for golf. The introduction of LIV Golf as a rival to the PGA Tour has split players and fans alike, causing a significant rift in the sport. Now, however, that rift is put to the side for the next week as the first major of the year takes place.
Players from both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will come together to test their skills against each other, competing for one of the sport’s top prizes. Can Scottie Scheffler defend his title, a feat that no player has managed to do since Tiger Woods won in 2001-2002? Or will one of his rivals from LIV Golf find some form in 2023 and snatch the prize?
We break down all the best bets to make on the Masters this week with the latest odds from bookmaker William Hill.

Looking at the outright winner odds from bookmaker William Hill, there are three clear favourites to win in Georgia this weekend. Joint leaders in the odds are Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, last year’s winner and finalist. With odds of 7.50, these two are slightly ahead of Jon Rahm, who sits back on 10.00. With these three players also making up the top three of the PGA Tour, it’s quite a step back to the next favourite, which is Jordan Spieth at 17.00. Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay round out the top five favourites, paying 21.00 for the win.
Several strong bets exist ahead of the first tee off at the Augusta National Golf Club this Thursday. First, despite the irregularity of a player winning the Masters back to back, it’s hard to go past Scottie Scheffler picking up the win here. The American is joint-first in the betting odds for a reason—he’s the No. 1 ranked player in the PGA Tour right now, having picked up a win last month at the PLAYERS Championship to go with his title at the WM Phoenix Open in February.
Add in five other top ten finishes in the past few months, as well as his strong performance in Augusta in the past, and Scheffler makes a strong case for the green jacket this weekend.

If betting on an outright winner isn’t quite your cup of tea then there are some compelling bets to make on the top five finish odds as well. Scheffler himself is paying 2.62, which is attractive given his consistency the past six months. Last year’s finalist Jordan Spieth is at 4.50, while one of the top LIV Golf players competing, Cameron Smith, also has lucrative odds of 5.00.
Given the fact that the Masters consistently draws the best out of the top players in golf, it would be no surprise to see any of these men putting in a deep run and finishing within the top five over the weekend.
