Leeds and Manchester United were to only teams in the league last season who managed to avoid defeat against City. Marcelo Bielsa’s team played out a 1-1 draw in the first meeting of the season and then shocked City with a 2-1 win at the Etihad.

The chances of another surprising Leeds result in the matchup don’t seem particularly high ahead of Tuesday’s clash. Leeds has battled injuries all season and it’s left them sitting just 15th in the table.

Bielsa can’t rely on Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford meaning Leeds will be missing two huge pieces for the match. Captain Liam Cooper is also out and it will likely force Bielsa to play with a lot of youngsters again.

A weakened Leeds team played well against Chelsea on Saturday losing just 3-2, and they will have taken some confidence from the performance, but it’s still a very difficult task to take anything off City.

Guardiola’s men were a bit inconsistent at the start of the season, but they are on a nice run now and will be motivated by the chance to make history on Tuesday. They can match Liverpool’s top-flight record of 33 wins in a calendar year, which was set in 1982.

City will miss a key player in Joao Cancelo due to a suspension, but the team is full of quality from top to bottom and his absence shouldn’t bother them much. Guardiola still has Bernardo Silva available, and he has no reasons to worry as long as the Portuguese ace stays healthy.

Sliva looked to be on his way out of the club in the summer as he had moved down in the pecking order, but the 27-year-old has completely turned his career around and is now the first name on the team sheet.

With less than half of the season played, Silva has already matched his Premier League record with seven goals and he plays a key role in the team’s pressing game. He’s set to be in the middle of everything again against Leeds and Bielsa needs to find a way to limit Silva’s influence on the game.
