France have been inconsistent throughout the year and their EURO 2020 campaign ended early in the round of 16, but they have just beaten Belgium in impressive fashion in the Nations League semifinals.

Les Bleus found themselves in big trouble after Yannick Carrasco and Romelu Lukaku gave the Red Devils a 2-0 half-time lead, but Didier Deschamps must’ve brought out all of his magic words in the dressing room as France completely turned the tables and won 3-2.

Thursday’s match marks the first time ever France have come back from a multi-goal half-time deficit to win a competitive game. Kylian Mbappe led the charge with a goal and an assist.

The PSG star had a miserable time at the Euros capping things off with the decisive penalty miss in the round of 16 shootout against Switzerland, so he clearly has a point to prove and we can expect him to be in top form again on Sunday.

Following his Thursday’s exploits, Mbappe has recorded 18 goals and 17 assists in 50 games for France and keeping him in check would greatly boost Spain’s chances of success.

The Spaniards ended Italy’s 37-game unbeaten run in the semis with a 2-1 victory and they looked very impressive despite missing a number of their EURO 2020 regulars. Ferran Torres was the hero of the night and Luis Enrique will hope that the knock, which forced the Manchester City man to leave Wednesday’s clash early, isn’t anything serious.

Torres has quickly developed into a key player for La Roja. He only made his debut for the side in September last year, but the 21-year-old already boasts 12 goals and Spain have yet to lose a game where Torres has scored.

The two giants of European football meet for the first time since 2017 when Spain won a friendly in Saint-Denis 2-0 via goals by David Silva and Gerard Deulofeu. The all-time head-to-head results are pretty close with Spain having 16 victories to France’s 12, but the French have managed to win just one of the last seven meetings.
