With the favourites being Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler amongst others, we can expect another close battle between the aforementioned names. However, given the result of last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship when the underdog in Will Zalatoris won (odds on him to win priced at 26.00), it remains to be seen whether this week’s BMW Championship can provide any similar surprises.

This time around, the BMW Championship will be held at the famous Wilmington Country Club in Delaware. Previously owned by the duPont family, the Wilmington Country Club boasts a rich history of over 100 years putting it amongst the most prestigious and finest country clubs in the world.

The reigning champion, Patrick Cantlay will definitely look to defend his title and beat the odds in order to win this year’s BMW Championship. Being one of the best putters in the world at the moment, Cantlay is sure to have an edge over his opponents when it comes to technique. How exactly does he do it? Well in his own words:

“If you want my advice on how to hole more putts, start with a smart and efficient pre-shot routine. This includes “stalking” your putts. Walk around the green to get a sense for the contouring and speed of the putt and how much the ball will break before you get over it. The more information you process, the more your confidence will grow.”

The main challenger looking to dethrone Patrick Cantlay for this year’s BMW Championship is none other than Rory McIlroy. He is sure to have his say when it comes to technique and expertise. With his famous “driver” technique, McIlroy is sure to give Cantlay a run for his money.

Here’s how Rory McIlroy himself explains this notorious technique and gives insight into his knowledge about it:

“So, for me, what I like to feel to get speed is once I get into that left side, I get [the] left knee out of the way as quickly as possible. And that means that my hips turn quickly, my lower body turns quickly, and then my upper body just acts like a whip all the way through.”

With a purse of US$15 million up for grabs, we are sure to witness one of the most heated and exciting match-ups in the golf world today. Will this year’s BMW Championship give us a new face among the victors or will a veteran claim victory once more?
