The new Championship season starts on Friday and we get to see two recent Premier League sides in action as Huddersfield Town host Burnley.
There should be a lot of excitement around the John Smith’s Stadium and it could lead to a very entertaining game. Bookmaker William Hill has the odds at 6.50 for the clash to feature over two goals, over three cards and over 10 corners.

Both teams will be eager to have a good start to the year after last season ended in tears. Huddersfield lost the Championship playoff final to Nottingham Forest and Burnley saw their six-year run in the Premier League come to an end.
Huddersfield aren’t far removed from Premier League surroundings either having played the first seasons in club history in the league in 2017-2019. The Terriers struggled badly during their first couple of years back in the second tier, but the team finished off last season in style and should be confident of carrying the momentum into 2022-23.
Burnley had a pretty decent finish to last season as well, but the damage was already done and the team had to settle for an 18th-place finish in the Premier League.
It’s always tough to bounce straight back and get promoted from the Championship – unless you’re Fulham or Norwich – but the Clarets will be aiming high after hiring Vincent Kompany as manager and revamping the squad.
10 players have left the club over the summer and there are set to be a few more departures in the upcoming weeks. It’s no doubt been quite a challenge to get a competitive squad together, but Kompany has at least had the chance to bring in exactly the type of players that suit his playing philosophy, which is possession-based and completely different from what we have seen from Burnley in previous years.
The midfield duo of Josh Cullen and Samuel Bastien is set to play a big role for Burnley. It appears that Kompany has particularly high hopes for Cullen after working with him for two years at Anderlecht. The Republic of Ireland international rebuilt his career in Belgium after failing to make the grade at West Ham and he should have a lot to prove on his return to English football.
Burnley have a chance to continue a great road run at Huddersfield after going unbeaten during their last three trips to West Yorkshire. However, the last meeting between the two teams did end in a Huddersfield victory. They clashed in the FA Cup last season and Matty Pearson completed a comeback victory for Huddersfield with an 86th-minute strike.
