Aston Villa has been one of the in-form teams in the Premier League over the last couple of months and now gets a chance to register a fifth consecutive home win when Fulham pays a visit on Tuesday.

Villa was sitting 14th in the Premier League table when Emery took charge in November and he’s found a way to push the team all the way up to sixth. With Tottenham in a big crisis, the Villans now also have a realistic chance to jump into the fifth spot, sitting just two points behind Spurs.

Ollie Watkins’ performance has been one of the keys to success for Villa and Emery will look for him to maintain his form Tuesday. Watkins has registered the most goals in the Premier League in 2023 (11) and is averaging a goal per game across his last five outings.
Watkins could now become the first VIlla player with a 15-goal Premier League season since Christian Benteke in 2013. He’s always been known for his great work rate, but Emery deserves a lot of credit for making the 27-year-old a consistent goal threat.
Fulham is still waiting for the return of their top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, who continues to serve his eight-game suspension received for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh. He will sit out the fifth game of the suspension Tuesday.
Marco Silva’s men struggled at first without Mitrovic, losing back-to-back games and scoring just once, but they have regained some momentum again with their most recent outings. Harry Wilson has stepped up and the team has a chance to record a winning streak of at least three league games for only the second time this season.
Most of the talk has recently been on how well Villa is doing, but Fulham is also enjoying an impressive season, battling for a top-eight finish, and the hosts definitely can’t underestimate them on Tuesday. Fulham will be looking to post a new club record Tuesday with a seventh away win this season.
