The third of four major championships in golf this year is upon us with the 2023 US Open taking place from June 15th to 18th. As the 156 best golfers in the world converge on the Los Angeles Country Club to compete for the better part of $20 million in prize money, we take a look at who some of the best betting picks are ahead of the first tee on Thursday.
Can Scottie Scheffler do the one thing he’s failed to achieve in 2023 and win a major? Will Brooks Koepka continue his hot form in big tournaments and claim yet another title? Or could the US Open 2023 see a resurgence of Jon Rahm, who’s taken a back seat in recent months after a strong start to the season? We answer these questions and more looking at all of the latest odds with bookmaker William Hill.

Looking at the outright betting odds ahead of the US Open 2023 with bookmaker William Hill, there’s one clear favorite to win the title this Sunday. Scottie Scheffler has been the most consistent man in golf this year, something that is rewarded with odds of 7.50 heading into the third major of the year.
In fact, this is the biggest lead any individual has had in the betting odds prior to a major championship this season. The next best contender is Jon Rahm at 10.00 before Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy follow at 11.00. Rounding out the top favourites, Viktor Hovland and Patrick Cantlay are joint fifth in the betting odds on 15.00.
Clearly, the outright odds indicate that Scottie Scheffler is the man to beat in Los Angeles this week. The question is can anyone dethrone him? Or will Scheffler race away with the title and complete what has been a terrific season so far?
The only man who we say has a good shot at getting in Scheffler’s way this week is Brooks Koepka. The 33-year-old has not necessarily had the most consistent of years in LIV Golf, but when it comes to the big stage, he’s stepped up. In the first major of the year, Koepka came runner up; last month, he won the PGA Championship. Add to this the fact that he’s already won the US Open twice, and Koepka is a real problem for Scheffler.
In saying this, it feels as though Scheffler is overdue for a major win. He’s simply been playing golf at too high of a level to keep missing out on a big title in 2023. From 16 events, he’s finished inside the top 12 all but once—nine of those were top five finishes, with two titles to boot. Chances are Scheffler will prove why he’s world No. 1 this week by winning the US Open in style.
