The 2022 HALO season is about to cap off in Seattle, Washington (USA) as a total of twenty four teams face off to fight for glory in the biggest HALO tournament ever.
The favorite to take the trophy home is OpTic Gaming. Online sportsbook bet365 has them slated at 2.25. Coming off a very strong Orlando Major appearance where they were crowned champions, OpTic Gaming will look to duplicate their success on the big stage.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: October 10, 9:00 A.M. (EST)
Coming in second is Orlando Major runner-up Cloud9 with odds at 4.00. Led by veteran Eco who has played in five different iterations of the game, Cloud9 ground their way from the lower bracket but fell short in the finals in losing to OpTic in five games. The World Championship event will certainly be looked upon by Cloud9 as a chance for revenge and to finally notch that first place.
Household American eSport organizations such as FaZe Clan and Sentinels will also be making appearances in the tournament. With FaZe Clan being represented by an all-American squad featuring the likes of veteran Spartan and the 21-year-old Renegade, who has been playing HALO professionally since he was 16.
Meanwhile, Sentinels is a mix of Canadians and Americans. The North American HALO scene is full of strong players and teams. With the top placements in the last Orlando Major being American organizations, look for Sentinels and the rest of the North American pack featuring FaZe Clan, Cloud9, and OpTic Gaming to put forth a good effort in this tournament.
Other notable teams include G2 Esports, eUnited, Oxygen Esports, and GamersFirst as they are set to compete in the play pool.
The pool play is dominated by teams representing the USA with 11 of the 12 teams representing the country. Ukrainian organization Natus Vincere is the only European team present. A mix of three Brits, a German, and a Dutchman will be the lone non-American team in pool play. They barely managed to squeeze through after getting 9th-12th place in Orlando.
However, there are four non-North American teams in the play-in stage with the likes of Australian organizations Divine Mind and Chief Esports representing the Oceania region. Jlingz and Acend will be representing the European region as the highest placed teams in Orlando.
With US$400,000 available for grabs to the last team standing, the HALO World Championship will certainly see the best of the best compete at the highest level. The season, which has been in full swing since 2021, will finally come to an end.
OpTic Gaming are headlining the tournament as the favorites, but will they manage to live up to everyone’s expectation?
