This weekend’s La Liga action will be highlighted by the third Seville derby of the season as Sevilla and Real Betis go head to head at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Sevilla won the first derby of the season in the league 2-0 and the two also met in the Spanish Cup a little over a month ago where Betis got their revenge with a 2-1 victory. The game had to be played over two days after it was originally suspended because Sevilla’s Joan Jordan was hit in the head by an object thrown by the Betis fans.
The fans don’t like each other and there’s certainly no love lost between the two teams either especially with both battling near the top of the table. Sevilla are in the title race sitting six points adrift from leaders Real Madrid and Betis are third, looking to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2005-06.
Sevilla could easily be leading the pack by now if it wasn’t for a poor run of results. They are on an impressive 11-game unbeaten streak in the league but four of their last five matches have ended in draws.
Julen Lopetegui’s men have failed to score enough goals to stay on the winning track even after adding Anthony Martial and Jesus Corona to the squad in January.
Martial hasn’t been able to produce his best football for a while, but he’s only a couple of seasons removed from a 23-goal year and the Frenchman should come good for Sevilla if he gets a good run of games. He’s had a pretty decent start at the club with one goal and one assist in four appearances.
Betis have done a lot better compared to their neighbors lately winning four of their last five league outings. They have the second-best attacking record in the league with 47 goals and seem capable of simply outscoring anyone.
Manuel Pellegrini has seen his three forwards Juanmi, Borja Iglesias and Willian Jose combined for 26 goals and with Nabil Fekir and Sergio Canales pulling the strings, it’s very hard to keep Los Verdiblancos off the scoreboard. The first derby of the season was one of just six league games in which Betis didn’t score this term.
