European Darts Matchplay 2023 | Last Chance for World Matchplay Qualification in Germany

European Darts Matchplay 2023

Buckle up darts fans because this weekend there’s a furious three days of darts action going down in Germany. With the European Darts Matchplay 2023 taking place in Trier from June 30 to July 2, the season’s 10th PDC European Tour event is the final opportunity for players to gain qualification points ahead of the 2023 Betfred World Matchplay later in July.

With £175,000 on the line at the Trier Arena, expect this to be a hard-fought tournament. Luke Humphries will be eager to defend his title from 2022 and head into the rest of the season with some strong momentum, but the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith and Jonny Clayton will have something to say about that.

ウィリアムヒルWe break down all the latest darts odds from bookmaker William Hill and outline the best bets to make ahead of the first throw on Friday evening.

Bookmaker William Hill has Michael van Gerwen, the current No. 3 in the PDC Order of Merit, as the betting favourite heading into the European Darts Matchplay 2023. With van Gerwen on 4.33, his closest rival is the No. 1 player in darts right now, Michael Smith, on 6.50. Behind these two, Jonny Clayton and Josh Rock both loom on 10.00, followed by defending champion Luke Humphries who rounds out the top five betting favourites on 13.00.

European Darts Matchplay 2023

In terms of best bets to place on the European Darts Matchplay 2023, we see several opportunities this weekend. Jonny Clayton threw brilliantly at the recent Betway World Cup of Darts, leading Wales to victory with individual wins over Oskar Lukasiak, Kim Huybrechts and Gary Anderson. The current PDC Order of Merit No. 7 has consistent results in 2023 winning the Austrian Darts Open and the Players Championship 12, as well as a handful of final four appearances to boot. With odds of 10.00, there’s great value in backing Clayton to continue his recent momentum and win here in Germany.

If Clayton doesn’t manage to get the job done then Luke Humphries is also offering great value for a bet at the European Darts Matchplay 2023. The defending champion knows what it takes to win here and the style of play suits his temperament. While Humphries hasn’t won a title since this time last year, he’s also been showing promising signs, making a deep run to the final of the European Darts Grand Prix last month where he lost a close one to Rob Cross. At 13.00, there’s a great return to be had on the Englishman defending his title.
