PSG have played two matches without Messi winning both with a combined score of 4-1. They have a perfect record in Ligue 1 through eight games, but the Champions League campaign got off to a poor start.

Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were on the pitch together for the first time when PSG visited Club Brugge a few weeks back, but the Big Three failed to have an effect on the game and the Belgian champions battled out a 1-1 draw.

Messi hasn’t registered a single goal involvement in 190 minutes of action for PSG. However, he’s scored four goals in his last two outings against City and surely the drought won’t last for long.

PSG are chasing their first-ever victory in the matchup. The two also met last season in the semifinals with City coming out on top 4-1 on aggregate. The Premier League champions have won three of the previous five meetings between the two.

City kicked off the Champions League season with a 6-3 victory over Leipzig and they now boast 12 victories from their last 14 European outings.

Guardiola’s men recently suffered disappointment in a goalless draw against Southampton, but they head into Tuesday’s clash off the back of a massive result in beating Chelsea over the weekend 1-0 with a Gabriel Jesus goal.

The Brazilian has been in spectacular form early in the season already boating two goals and three assists from six Premier League outings. He also scored against Leipzig to improve his record in the Champions League to 17 goals in 31 appearances.

City wanted to bring in Harry Kane to replace Sergio Agüero, but Jesus is showing that they had his successor already at the club. A big European night on Tuesday gives him another chance to impress if Guardiola doesn’t end up tinkering with his team selection.

There’s another big clash on the horizon for City this week with a trip to Anfield coming up on Sunday. Winning both matches would be huge for them, but you would think that Guardiola would also be happy with a draw against PSG.
